For most COLORBOND® steel roofs and fences, rainwater can wash away most debris. However, there are some areas of these fixtures – like the top of your garage door, or the underside of your eaves gutter – where rainwater does not reach. Therefore, it is vital that you hose down these unwashed areas on a regular basis. This way, your COLORBOND® steel fixture will continue to impress for many years to come.
Of course, you should also keep away other debris, such as mulch and soil build-up, to ensure that your fence does not rot due to moisture.

How exactly does COLORBOND® steel perform when rated for fire? According to the CSIRO’S research and investigation team, the results found that, “… a steel fence offers greater protection to people’s homes against bushfire than other alternatives materials because of its non-combustibility”[1]
When exposed to a 30 minute flame immersion test (designed to simulate the effects of an adjacent house fire), the results concluded that pre-painted and metallic coated sheets (the same found in COLORBDOND® steel) performed best under all exposure conditions.
